For two wonderful years I have lived in Cadiz a really nice city to visit if you have time, preferable in Carnival season.
My experience in Cadiz was great, even if my studies at Sea Sciences University were catastrophic!!!!, but late I realised that what I really likes was being with people and client services and attention to the public, etc ... that it is what I am doing right now.
Por dos años tuve la suerte de vivir en Cádiz. La ciudad y sus habitantes me encantaron, pero tuve unas notas desastrosas, que me ayudaron a decidirme en dejar Ciencias del mar y dedicarme a lo que me gustaba: tratar con gente, cosa que ahora es lo que hago y no cambiaria por anda del mundo.
Aunque todas las épocas del año son buenas para ir a Cádiz, os aconsejo ir por Carnavales. Aunque seas forastero, los gaditanos te integraran en su fiestas, y antes que te des cuenta te veras por medio de sus calles saltando y cantando TIPO TIPO TIPO, que significa el disfraz (lucir tipo).
Desde el Parque Genoves, la punta de la TACITA DE PLATA, enfrente del colegio Mayor donde resid? estos dos años, las vistas del Océano Atlántico eran fabulosas y ver como las olas se estrellaban con toda su fuerza desde mi ventana, no me dejaba de sorprender día a día.
El puerto de Cádiz tiene mas de mas de 3000 años.
Gadir fue fundada alrededor del año 1100 antes de cristo por los fenicios.
Debido a su posición ha sido atacada continuamente por los piratas.
En el siglo XVI se convirtió en uno de los puertos más importantes de Europa al recibir el monopolio americano, hasta entonces privilegio de Sevilla.
Tras la guerra de independencia y ante la ausencia del rey, los representantes de las distintas Juntas regionales reunieron las Cortes de Cádiz redactando la constitución liberal de 1812, en la cual se basa la constitución actual en Cádiz, por eso en la plaza de España esta el monumento a las Cortes
Cadiz is surrounded by sea and a little windy.
Not many big or modern buildings on its old town give Cadiz a special look like a village in the middle on a big city.
But the best with no doubt is its PEOPLE...

I was in Andalucia in 1990 and 1991. Rota, Cadiz, Jerez de La Frontera, Puerto de Santa Maria. I remember walking along the sea wall in Cadiz. VERY BEUTIFUL place. Its like heaven in Spain to me.
I wont ask how you got the nickname Madam Carmela....lol. When we going back here?
Wonderful page of Cádiz ! Great info and pictures ! I was there in july 2002 and I love the place ! This is really a very nice place to stay!
