  • Tip Rating:
  • It is known as TROPICAL COAST because of its climate that allows to cultivate tropical products as: avocado, mango...

    Some interesting cities are:

SALOBREÑA with a castle on a high rock that seems to be floating on a sea of green plants.

ALMUÑECAR a romantic village with a Roman aqueduct.

    ALPUJARRAS: EXCURSIONS: Alpujarra
  • Tip Rating:
  • LA ALPUJARRA is a mountainous region on the south side of the Sierra Nevada with beautiful small, white villages of Arabic origin.

You should visit: LANJARON one of Spain's best reputed spas, ORVIJA, and TREVELEZ, famous because of his ham.

EXCURSIONS: EXCURSIONS: On the way to Malaga
  • Tip Rating:
  • ALHAMA DE GRANADA famous spa resort, it has great views of the Sierra Nevada, has old Arabian bathes and a interesting church or Iglesia Mayor.

LOJA, a typical white village in the Andalusian style, and has several important monuments, as the Alcazaba, an old Arabian and the Church of San Gabriel, from 16th century. I never been there but I stop always in the road for a coffee only to enjoy the views from the top

It is the highest mountain range in mainland Spain, (as the highest mountain is in Canary Islands)

It is the sunniest Ski resort in Europe and it hosted the world Ski championship in 1996.

  • I spent there two days, but from Granada you can do day excursions to Guadix, as it is only one hour trip, and walk along this monumental city.

Also take the road again and visit Calahorra castle

For more information visit my Gaudix and La Calahorra pages

Does the Alhambra have an audio guide, or should I buy a printed guide in advance? It is too big to remember all of the details!
    KatrinaEdbrooke Wed Apr 23, 2008 16:48 UTC
Hola Carmela 71 You may want to change the classification for your Alhambra tips as they are currently all listed under tourist traps. Seem a bit unfair on the Alhambra :)
    IngaA Mon Feb 11, 2008 13:22 UTC
Yesterday I watched a TV programme named "The most beautiful castles of Europe', the one dedicated to La Alhambra. *Fingers crossed*, if everything goes as I want, Pyrenees are for spring 2009... tssss
