Gibralfaro Castle: Gibralfaro Castle
  • Tip Rating:
  • Great views of the city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So thats why I suggest to go first so you get a first impression of the city.

I did not know until I read on the guide that the mount received the name of " Jabal-Faruk " (lighthouse mountain), so here it comes the actual name

    Timetable:
    9.30 - 20.00 h. (summer)
    9.30 - 18.00 h. (winter)
    Open everyday.

Price 1,80 € (3 € for alcazaba and gibralfaro tickets) Be careful with the new ticket machines can confuse .... (jejeje own experience lol)

By the way free entrance on Sundays afternoons!

    Roman Theater: Roman Theater
  • Tip Rating:

  • We can began the tour around Malaga from this point, just at the entrance to the Alcazaba at the left is the Roman theater.

As most of the mediterranean cities, whenever they dig for the foundations of a new building they find roman ruins or others.

In particular I remeber the librery that was where is now the Roamn thater, around 10 years ago, they finally changed to another building and resaured this Theater.

From here we can go up to the Alcazaba

  • The Alcazaba is close to the Palace of Diputacion, at the mountain of Gibralfaro, down Gibralfaro castle

It has a Palace, a neigborough, some patios ... I am afraid I had not visited (yes I am embarased to say, specially as I had been living 3 years just five minutes walking distance from there lol maybe next time)

Price is 1,80 € (3 € for alcazaba and gibralfaro tickets) Be careful with the new ticket machines can confuse .... (jejeje own experience lol)

  • Used to be the old port customs and became a guvernamental building still in use this days.

At the back there is a police station just in front of the Alcazaba

Beautiful gardens around, and good views of the Alcazaba and gibralfaro castle!!

  • Not everyone has to like bullfights or the bull culture, but I ask respect for people that like it.

We are free to decide if we wnat to go and see it or not. I made my choice a long time ago. I do not go. But I do not like seeing people of other ccountries and cultures attaquing it, as all cultures are not perfect, so who are we to critisise?

    Cathedral: Malaga Cathedral
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are tours of the Cathedral everyday. For more information about the catedral, check my general tips with some histories and tips

The baroque façade of the Plaza del Obispo is incredible (Alonso Cano did a good job lol, as in Granada), also its choir stalls of Pedro de Mena deserve the visit.

You can also visit the Cathedral Museum that is inside

Palacio del Obispo: Palacio del Obispo
  • Tip Rating:

  • The square where this Palace is sited is just at the main entrance of the cathedral. But normally you enter for visits of mass by the left one passing through the Museum and garden.

Great atmosphere in this square at festivals!

    Santiago Church: Mudejar tower
  • Tip Rating:

  • At Iglesia de Santiago you can find this mudejar tower.

Before used to be a mosque and they keep the tower.

At calle Granada, I used to pass this church for 3 year sometimes 4 times per day lol

In between Plaza de la Merced and Picasso Musseum (in between is the Papas asadas eating tip and El Pimpim for a nice glass of wine ;-)

Don't waste your time and money if you really enjoy food. The food is RUBBISH!!!!!! we ordered fish and lamb chops. Fish bone dry and tastles, lamb chops were overcooked that it was impossible to eat them. I guess Banderas has no idea what is good food.
