Day 1 excursion to the North I wish we had more time to visit this city, but I am afraid there was not enough time to do all what we wanted in only 13 days.
At least we had a briefly visit to the port area, and old fortifications, and also a great lunch, by suggestion of Sharon.
For photos of the lunch, see my travelogue.
This day, we left early Tel Aviv to go to visit the Haifa Bahai Gardens, later we came here to enjoy this lovely meal, and we ended the day on Ros Hanigra at the north. |
| | Officially, it is usually spelled as Acre (in English). However, in Hebrew, the city´s name is pronounced Akko.
Akko has a historical importance since the old times. Well known by the crusaders times, as the port on that times.
Akko was once a leading port in the Middle East, in the same league as Alexandria and Constantinople.
Its more interesting sights are:
the underground Crusader city Knights' Halls Ancient port (we went to this great restuarant) Aljazar Mosque Bahai Shrine and Gardens (We visited the ones in Haifa on the same day, so we did not go to this ones, you know short of time)
Hope the next time I have time to see all of it. |
