The Great Wall is the one of the most amazing man-made structures ever! How can you come to China and NOT visit the wall?

To avoid a overtly-touristy feel, go to other sections (like Huang Hua) besides the popular Badaling section.

Directions:
Take metro to Dong Zhi Men station.
Ask around for Bus 916 as there are more than 1 exits from the station.
Take 916 to Huai Rou.
It takes about 1 hour.
Stop at Huai Rou's bus station.
Take 961 (this is NOT a typo) to Huang Hua Great Wall.

Check the time for the last bus back to Huai Rou.

Off limits for 500 years, the Forbidden City is the largest and most well-restored ancient buildings in China. It was home to the Ming and Qing dynasties of emperors who hardly ever ventured beyond the walls. The alternative name is the Palace Museum (Gu Gong).

The ground is IMMENSE. Budget 4 hours here if you want to see most of the things. You will be exhausted at the end of 4 hours and STILL, you would not have completed everything. It's impossible to visit another sight after this. Never do it on the day you have to catch a flight out of Beijing!

However, many of the treasures and thrones are placed inside halls that we are still forbidden to enter. They can only be seen (vaguely) from a distance from the entrance of the hall.
