VENEZUELA 2005 >> ... +| Part of SA 2005 |+ ... Venezuela first astonished me with the incredibly awe-inspiring region of La Gran Sabana in the south, with numerous waterfalls, now-you-see-it-now-you-don't table-mountains ('tepuys') and rolling green savannah. This is where the story of 'The Lost World' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born. It is not hard to imagine why. The place is truly hypnotic, an energy centre. I have been to many magical places in South America and believe me, this is indeed one of the most memorable ones.
After Caracas, I escaped from the amorous leers of the locals of the Caribbean turquoise-coast to the start of the Andean mountain range in Merida where I took the highest cable car system in the world to Pico Espejo at 4700+m.
