frenchlondon's new Lyon Page

by frenchlondon - last update: Sep 4, 2002

Lyon is very special to me. I didnt live far from Lyon when i was still living in France.
Lyon had quite a bad reputation, but for the past 20 years, Lyon has lost the reputaion of being "bourgeois, cold and unfriendly" to visitors.
Although being a big city (2nd after Paris), Lyon has something of the village, you can feel it especially if you wander around "Vieux Lyon", in fact i have always compared it to Trastevere in Rome. It is the old part of the city and one of the most beautiful and full of nice restaurants (les petits bouchons lyonnais).
That's a shame Lyon is mainly a city where visitors go throught when they go from Paris to the South of France. It is worth staying in Lyon for a couple of days.

Nice photos of Lyon! Well, I find Lyon indeed a little bourgeois and provincial, but it is a beautiful city with the 2 rivers and the 2 hills!

For sure I would like to visit Lyon; it's only a couple of hours away from Paris by train. Thanks for the tips!
