In celibration of our 20th anniversary we visited Venice. Had a wonderful time despite the weather. I hope the few tips I have here help you to enjoy this enchanting city. |
| Gondolas on a narrow canal |
| | A typical canal The Grand Canal may be the Main Street of Venice but there are many more of these smaller canals all over Venice. This is where you'll see the gondoliers plying their trade. |
And Venice is not all canals either. Yes, Venice may be known for its canals but the quickest way to get around is by foot. Just be forwarned - it's very easy to get lost, but this is half the fun. Most 'streets' are rather narrow, and a fair number either end up in a 'dead end' or at the edge of a canal. Don't let this worry you though, just retrace your steps and try another path. | | | a typically narrow 'calle' |

JetlagCity Wed Apr 7, 2004 16:56 UTC Lots of excellent tips here, thanks! Great pics, too, esp. the one of "a campanile and its reflection". I'm going to Venice for the first time in June & can hardly wait! | pedersdottir Sun Mar 21, 2004 01:33 UTC Useful tips for a notoriously expensive - but sublime- city. Thank you! | MarvintheMartian Sun Mar 14, 2004 18:32 UTC I haven't been to Venice for a long time, but would love to return and do some of the more "off the beaten track" places - good tips on the "Enoteca Cantinone Gia Schiavi" - thanks! |
