The greatest city on earth.

At home in London - sometimes!

Acting the tourist in Piccadilly Circus.
Since moving to London I have been able to have even more adventures. I enjoy shopping and looking for new places to eat and drink almost every weekend. Despite its age London is constantly changing, when one place closes another opens and a new venue is added to the list of must see places. The historical places of interest will fill more than the total time of your visit however long, to see it all will take many more visits. Even now, after years of exploring I am still finding places of interest tucked away in the maze that is the greatest city on earth.

THIS IS LONDON.

Forget the ratings and the chapter headings, I have decided to show you the things I have seen and done rather than tell you where to stay and what to do - take a look at my pages and decide for yourself `When a man tires of London, he tires of life`
Trafalgar Square is a great place to start, it's where we have many of our largest installations, art or otherwise, this picture shows a promotion for the release of the Thunderbirds movie, it shrinks next to the mighty Nelsons column (recently restored) This is where London comes to celebrate, new year & sporting achievement are all celebrated here as are cultural events and concerts. There is always something going on and it's a great place to start your tour of the Greatest city on Earth.
Head west to Pall Mall which leads to St James's Park & Buckingham Palace. There wil be many tourists already outside the Palace, taking pictures and peering through the gates to see if the Queen is in residence, you aren't likely to see her as the royal appartments are on the north side of the building (to your right) overlooking Green Park. Go south down Whitehall to see Downing Street, home of the Prime Minister, and many important government buildings. Further still and you come to the Houses of Parliment and the great clock of Westminster and it's famous bell Big Ben.

The Ashes tour of London.

The Aussies are going to have to raise their game a bit, all these open top bus parades around London are costing us a fortune. 13.9.05 the England cricket team celebrates winnig the Ashes from Australia, the party in Trafalgar Square was fantastic. From here you can go North up St Martin's Place to Theatreland, Soho & Liecester Square, probe a little deeper and you will fin yourself in the heart of London's China Town. East of Trafalgar Square is The Strand and the fantastic Covent Garden, great for shopping and eating. Turn right for the Thames, cross over for the South Bank, it's galleries and restaurants will take all day to explore. You can visit the National Theatre, the restaurants of the OXO Tower and the wonderful Gabriels Wharf for more shopping. To the south there is the Royal Festival Hall, the Jubilee Gardens, the London Aquarium and of course the world famous London Eye.
