"A brief stay in Manly." Manly by Steve-H

Our journey was so packed with things to do, places to go and people to see that we hadn`t left ourselves much time to relax. Fortunately one of those rare days off came during our stay in Manly with Jen & Mike, we headed straight for the beach.

Mike is a dedicated surfer, that`s a brilliant understatement, and the flat is full of surfing knick knacks. Persueded by Jen, Steff tried to get into her wet suit and give it a go, unfortunately it didn`t fit so we spent the afternoon on the beach eating ice creams.

Thanks to mother natures best efforts, Sydney has sprung up around around a series of bays and inlets, this divides the city into small enclaves around the coast one of which is Manly. From Circular Quays it`s only a 30 minute crossing to Manly, we have also been by road but it takes longer and isn`t half as interesting. What a smashing way to go to work in the morning, beats the tube. Note Mike`s red eyes, not caused by the camera but his early morning forays into the surf.

• Pros:Great Beach, lots of places to eat and shop.
• Cons:It can feel a bit club 18-30 at times.
• In a nutshell:Only 30 minutes from the city, it`s worth a visit.
