Getting TO/AROUND: Detroit is known as the Motor City and people definitely like their cars. Visitors will probably need to rent one as public transportation is limited or non-existant. There is a limited bus schedule and no local trains. Detroit once had plans for a subway and even many locals don't know that some of the tunnels were dug under the city, but the project was never completed. It's possible to call a cab from a hotel, etc., but it's difficult to find one from the street. Detroit has a people mover (the local version of an aboveground metro) that stops at a few of the most popular spots such as Greektown, Joe Lewis Arena and the Renaissance Center, but overall the service is very limited in the central downtown area.

Your pictures are excellent. My Dad grew up on Edison and the house is still in the family. I've been told by my dad that there are some homes on Boston Ave with bowling alleys and swimming pools in the basement. David Luton Bedfordshire UK

Your pages on Detroit are superb. As a former resident and longtime fan of Detroit I'm so pleased to see what you've done here. Perhaps you should consider moving the BE & Corktown sections in Things to Do. Cheers, Franklin
