"Port Douglas the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef" Port Douglas by Alain_Smeets

Port Douglas was for us the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. We took from there the Quicksilver boot towards their floating pontoon in the Agincourt Reef. This is located in the outer Reef. We left early in the morning and there you can do a lot of activities.

We went snorkelling in the Great Barrier reef and luckily we had fins on or feet because there is a slight current that pushes you away from the floating pontoon. Or if you are tired of snorkelling you can have a ride in a semi-sub and you can see the sea-life and the reef passing by.

The snorkelling, semi-sub and the meal are included in the price.

I also did a helicopter flight above the reef, and if you are interested you can follow a diving initiation and you can walk on the Reef floor. I didn’t do this last part, but some friends who did said that they liked it very much.

Exploring the Great Barrier Reef is a day well spent, and if you do it with Quicksilver or any other company, you will have a great day there, like I did.

Snorkeling is something I may not do so I am grateful to you for these wonderful shots of the Great Barrier Reef underwater-what fabulous scenes you have photographed. Beautiful insights on homepage and now this. Thank you so much. Carole
