Western, But Not

Plaza Fountain
I think I liked Merida because it provided a great blend of western comforts and traditional Mexican styles and culture. There is great shopping here (and I'm not a shopper) and the city itself it a great place to explore on foot. The layout makes it easy to find your way around, but you can also stumble upon some hidden gems-churches and plazas-that no guidebook tells you about and that aren't set up for tourists. They're just there, waiting to be seen.
