I visited Brunei for just a few days on my trip through Asia. It was a little daunting at first, being the only person in a 15 bed dorm room! But eventually other people came and it was great.
One of my favorite things about Bandar Seri Begawan was meeting Danny. He's a local who comes to the rescue when he sees a lost tourist. He found me searching my map hoping to figure out where in the city I was, and took me on an amazing hike up a mountain so that I could see the entire city, and also Malaysia!
If you find yourself getting hot here (and you probably will) the Royal Regalia Museum is a great place to spend a couple of hours. Inside are some fantastic items from coronations and Brunei's history. My favorite part, though, is that you have to take off your shoes to go in!
For some great pictures and a little history of the country/city check out this website http://www.tropicalisland.de/travel_brunei.html. |
