Assen, capital of Drenthe. That was for long all I knew about Assen, and I also knew they had a motor race circuit and a parc where kiddo's could learn about traffic safety, one could earn a driver's license even if you obeid all traffic rules.

But actually visiting Assen?? No way! haha we had our own capital of Groningen, who would long for any other city!

But some years ago a friend of mine asked if I would like to come along, shopping in Assen. Ah but shopping! I d go anywhere!

Assen doesn t feel a city, more like a little town, with a very nice shopping mall.
Seems they are always tearing down buildings and building new ones. Doesn't feel cosy, and there is little logic in streets.
But that s just my impression, if you were to go to Assen, strawl some in the centre but then please, go into the province of Drenthe, there s far more to see :).
