At the end of the Afsluitdijk stands its creator in bronze: ir Cornelius Lely who forced the Suijdersee behind a dike and thus making the sea a lake.

The little lighthouse or beacon on the dam "Afsluitdijk" between Friesland and Noord Holland, which we pass when travelling to our vacation-adress.
Den Helder is the place where one can take the ferry to Texel, a small island just above Den Helder.
It is a typical marine harbor for often one can see and hear foreign sailors in the streets. And in the pubs off course!
