Kids tell eachother everything, they say. Well, our kids want to say at school that they have been to 4 (or 5, as they count the Netherlands as well) countries on their holiday. For that reason we made a swing through the northern part of France and stopped in Sierck-les-Bains. Above this little village we saw a huge citadel and so we had to stop and take a better look.<BR>We went to a tourist information desk and got some leaflets. They were lovely and well documentated but when we started to walk through the village we were shocked by the bad maintenance of almost all the houses in the old street. It looked as if many house were empty and had been standing there without someone looking after them.<BR>Despite its magnificent history it was rather desolate.<P>See travelogue for info on the fortified castle.<P>The text with the drawings had to be translated from French, took me some time but I think it is understandable now ;-).

I really like your photos of the doors. I did the same thing once-taking pictures of windows in Venice I forgot people lived in there and got an angry look from an old lady.
