My friends do the dang-dest things. For example, my buddy, John, up above? I took him to Downtown Orlando. He proceeds to drink a Beer Bong Hit. About $10.00. Don't know WHAT on EARTH propelled him to want to drink a 12oz Beer in 7 seconds... Maybe it was the girl's uniform. You wanna CALL it a uniform? BUT I DIGRESS... So... yeah.. he downs the beer... and within minutes .. . we are at the TATOO parlor. At 46 years of age, he now proceeds to get his FIRST tatoo. Oh, it's a beauty folks. 5 inch and 3 color; a Celtic Cross. Absolutely dazzling. Looks like it was there his entire life. I'm proud of him. He had a great night. Maybe the beer was the best thing that happened to him! Cheers John Finnegan! Orlando loves you. If you come to Orlando, I'll take YOU Downtown. We'll find this girl. You'll down a Beer Bong.. and who knows? You might find yourself doing something YOU'VE never done before, too! What happens in Orlando - goes home with you and lasts a lifetime. Formerly a HOLIDAY REP for an Irish Inbound Tour Company, I now work in the Group Sales Dept. for Hotelbeds.Com, a large Mallorca-based travel services company, which is Britished-Owned (First Choice).
As a former Holiday Rep I know lots of stuff about attractions to partake in whilst on your Central Florida Holiday. I like to be helpful. So if you have specific questions, post me private.
As a Groups Specialist, I know lots about "group rates" at hotels throughout the US. For example, did you know that in order to qualify for a "Group" rate, you must book 10 rooms or more? NYC is the exception, where 10 people or more constitute a group. Something most folks don't realize: Group Rates are, for the most part, MORE EXPENSIVE than FIT rooms. (Don't think it's an interesting Job, but I am making lots of friends that work in Sales at Nice Hotels around the country, hehehe!)
SCAM O' ORLANDO: Beware of Time Share Presentations. GOD I'm sick of those creeps. EVERYONE is entitled to make a dime, I suppose, but Time Share Swindlers are RIGHT UP THERE w/ used car salesmen, my opinion....
So, if someone is offering you Deeply Discounted tickets to the Parks in exchange for a one hour breakfast: count on a five hour presentation!
NO ONE is allowed to sell One Day / One Park Disney Tickets. I mean NO ONE! So don't buy Unused portions of folks "Hopper Passes" for Disney. Disney is crackin' down on this practice. If you didn't buy the Hopper Pass, you can't use the ticket.
If you are only going to Disney for the Day, buy your ticket at the Gate. Be a Real Man / Real Woman. Don't look for a free lunch. Your in the Magic Kingdom, get out your Magic lastic.
And.... WELCOME TO ORLANDO!

| | Hexe's Home I feel a little compelled to defend Orlando. It's True. It's a Touristy HELL most of the time if you look at the surface. I mean I live w/ Universal less than 2 miles from my house. And Disney is less than 7 miles. I'm between them both. And then there is the OTHER touristy den: International Drive. And Sea World... and bars 'o plenty in Downtown Orlando. You may ask...
HOW CAN I DEFEND THIS HOSPITALITY BASED MECCA?! It's got to do with the ARTISTS that come to WORK at the theme parks. With SO many theme parks, Orlando can't help but attract VERY talented artists that give up on NY or LA. They come here because they - well, settle - some might say. But others more charitable would say the Artists who Give up on NY / LA come to Orlando to have a LIFE. They can OWN A HOME... They can PERFORM TO FULL HOUSES. They can have BENEFITS. Raise their Families. Orlando - another words - provides an opportunity for talented artists to live off of their art. Not just WAIT TABLES like they perhaps once did in LA or NY.
Now on the surface, you see Mickey. What I get to see as a Patron of the arts... are ARTISTS that want to stretch beyond Minny and Goofy. These talented Actors and Dancers and Musicians and Singers who gravitate to work at the Theme Parks by Day... get involved in AMAZING theater / live artistic productions by night. And that is where our FRINGE really surpases others. Our Local Talent Base RIVALS NY and LA... It's just a fact.
That Said.. sure. I live next to Mickey and Mickey is a tight ass rat in a tux. But the good news is... At night, I get to play with all the most amazing, talented folks I've ever had the opportunity to meet.
It ain't Hawaii. Orlando IS what it IS!
And yet I have lots of respect & admiration for the talent that has chosen Orlando to be their home. I have high hopes, culturally, in the direction that Orlando is going. |
Don't go to Artist Parties... Art is to be Observed or Participated in. At yet another party, I became the 'canvas.' Be Careful at Orlando Parties. MANY artists lurk and talk you into strange things! | | |
