Uncle Charlie's Crab Shack: Great Food - Great People

Lisa was the person that made us come to this restaurant. She was cruising around the Grouper Festival that Shelly and I were working, passing out Free Appetizers for the restaurant. At the end of the busy day, Shelly and I decided, why not check out this Crab Shack. When we got there, we were so Out of it due to lack of sleep, we decided we'd only have one quick beer and head back to Orlando, a 1.5 hour drive... Three or Four beers later, 3 hours later, and plenty of Kick Arse Food later, we finally made our goodbyes. Nice place, nice owners, great staff and Lisa -- the Matron Saint of the restaurant... you won't want to leave as well.

Favorite Dish: I really liked the fried oysters.

And the Crabstuffed Mushrooms.

And the Onion rings.

Aw hell, nothing was Bad! Light, not greasy frying is a LOST ART, but they succeed here in not making you feel TOO guilty about eating well-prepared fried foods.

Uncle Charlie's Crab Shack: Ya like fried oysters?

The food is fresh and freshly prepared. The ambience is Beach Cool. The employees and owners are amazingly friendly and fun to hang out with. It's a very special place that makes me wish I lived closer. But maybe not: i'm trying to eat less fried food. (Steamed crabs next time, Sheryl!)

I had the Crab stuffed mushroom caps; fried oysters and onion rings with Hushpuppies. And some icehouse on tap. Muy Bueno!
