Getting TO/AROUND: Well, the gateway to South America when you are this far south, for US passengers, is frankly Buenos Aires.... so many flights will fly you to BA, and then will go onward to MVD. Such is the case for me. I chose to continue on the UA flight that landed MIA- EZE, and then EZE - MVD. The flight one way, EZE-MVD, was $68.00USD. Worth it... because the one way Ferry ride is the same, but since I would have had to take time / money to commute to Port, it was cheaper, shorter to fly from EZE.... Quick flight too.... and the Airport at MVD is small and managible even if you don't speak Spanish. Very interesting!

Getting TO/AROUND: Another way to get to / from MVD if you are trying to come to/from Buenos Aires: Buquebus! It is fast, quiet, nice, easy way to relax between to important Capitol Cities... the time goes by quickly if you are on the non-stop (About 2.5 hours long boat ride). And it costs about $68.00USD You can do this Cheaper if you mix up the Boat w/ a Bus... For example, Buenos Aires by Boat to Colonia, and From Colonia to Montevideo by Bus.. and I believe this routing costs about $30 and takes about 4 hours... And then the longest/cheapest option is completely over land 7 hour bus trip for $20.00 Very interesting!

Getting TO/AROUND: IMPORTANT - IF YOU TAKE BUQUEBUS... Let's say you are leaving MVD for Buenos Aires, like me... Make a Reservation for your boat trip. Arrive plenty early, as you will be taking care of all your immigration paperwork from the MVD/Uruguay side. When you are in Argentina, you just get your luggage and go! It's that simple, but expect to take care of departure tax and other paper work for departure out of Buquebus Terminal. Very interesting!
