I like Kuta... and I've stayed in Nusa Dua and visited Ubud... and have gone around the Island. Something "normal" about being in a hotel that is close to EVERYTHING and has different PRICE RANGES for gifts and restaurants.
True, it's not EVERYONES cup of tea! Read my Travelogue: In Defense of KUTA. You'll understand more why you'll get grief from "world travelers!"

Thank god for the hell-raising Aussies. I found them to be quite entertaining while rotting in East Timor. And the Aussies I was in cotact with were Infantry soldiers. Just imagine the chaos!
