Grand Junction is the largest city on the western slope of Colorado's Rocky Mountains, and it is the capital of Colorado's fruit growing region. Grand Junction peaches are among the sweetest and juciest in the world. When I was a kid in Boulder (other side of the mountains), my neighbors used to make the long drive to Grand Junction every year just to fill up their car full of peach bushels. Grand Junction is also the gateway to Colorado National Monument and Grand Mesa, which feature some of the most spectacular scenery in the state.
