Xi'an - home of the Terracotta Warriors. If you're in China its practically impossible to not come here.

The Terracotta armt is outstanding, but Xi'am is a nice city anyway, and well worth wandering around. The Muslim quarter is animated, the city walls offer a great opportunity to get away from it all, and the various imperial sites in the area make it a tourist mecca.

If you add to that the fact that the food is great, then how can you possibly stay away!
