Get away from it all - Provincia de Imbabura

Imbabura is an extinct volcano which is easily visible from Otavalo and the surrounding area. The best place to start for a climb on Imbabura (1 day) is La Esperanza, a small peaceful village which has attracted in it's time people such as Bob Dylan and Joan Baez.
The area is known for a certain type of cactus from which mescaline can be extracted and also for it's funny funghi !
