Isla Amantani Travel Guide: 25 reviews and 61 photos

Amantani is one of the islands on lake Titkaka that is the most accesible from Puno in Peru. It is possible to get there by local transport, or with a guided tour which visits several islands. The standard tour allows you to stay overnight on Amantani with a family.
There is no electricity or running water on the island, but we were very well received b the family that we visited.
Amantani has a large female population, as most of the men go to work on the mainland for months at a time.
The women wear a very attractive traditional costume which includes a large black wrap embroidered by hand with family motifs.
