"Pushkar & the sacred lake" Pushkar by Yso

Pushkar Travel Guide: 187 reviews and 765 photos

Pushkar is a small town around a sacred lake in northern India. It's famous for the annual camel fair (if you want to be there for the camel fair you need to get there about a week before in order to get a hotel room) and also because the lake is one of the holiest places just after Varanasi & the Ganges. The cremated ashes of Nehru were scattered on this lake...

You can walk around the make and the surrounding area, visit the temples, and of course the markets. Being a "holy" place which attracts many visitors Pushkar is well eqipped with Hotels, restaurants, things to buy, pickpockets and people to rip you off !
