Packing Lists: The weather at Niagara Falls

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Average Temperatures (in Fahrenheit): January - March max 37 min 16 April - June max 73 min 34 July - September max 79 min 52 October - December max 55 min 21
The coldest months in Niagara Falls are November through March. Count on lots of snowfall during the winter. And believe me: it is cold!
The moisture that evaporates from the lakes creates a special climate around Niagara Falls. Do count on more cloud cover in the summer because of that.
In June, July and August the temperatures are high, but don't be fooled by that. The spray and mist that surround the falls create a very special micro-climate. It feels much colder in this moist air and there is a big chance of getting wet of the spray when getting closer to the falls. So be prepared and bring a rain jacket and if you want to get really close to the falls, a change of dry clothing might not be a bad idea either.

Packing Lists: Dress warm for the winter

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Brrrr, the winter is cold in Ontario, so dress warm for it. Be prepare for cold, and when you get a a bit more to the north of the Province, also a lot of snow.
Hahahaha, I loved seeing these socks in a store though: "Chill busters" and "Polar Paws", I thought they were such fun names ;-)))
But they are good to have! When you go on a hike in the winter remember to dress well. Dress warmly, best by using several layers, but don't overdress!!! If you start sweating in your clothing that only means you will start freezing of the cold later. The moist will cool of and make you freeze. The best thing to do is to wear good breathing materials, and you'll be happy outside, whatever the thermometer might say the temperature is :-))

davesut Wed Jun 13, 2007 21:01 UTC Great pics - we were there last Easter which was colder than Christmas so they told us but a little less snow. Great pics as ever. Are you sure you are supposed to take photos inside the IMAX?!? | Trekki Wed May 17, 2006 18:14 UTC Ah, the falls look terrific in winter with all that snow and iced leaves around :-)) Hihi, yes the colored falls, well well I thought the same :-) Oh, and polar paws would be something, sweet Nalle might use now, ok, I go knitting him some :-))) | HotRodEtte Sun Nov 13, 2005 23:36 UTC This cracks me up...the Frankenstein w/ the Whopper at BK. Every time I see it I laugh--I have a photo of it too, was there in October! :) ~Cindy | globerover Thu Nov 3, 2005 17:10 UTC I wouldn't call someone a daredevil who jumps down the Niagara, as there is a fair chance to survive, a daredevil is someone who flies Aeroflot, eats chicken meat in China and drinks self-distilled brandy "India style", preferably all at the same time :-) |
