    Getting TO/AROUND:
In the first picture you can see the train station of Amsterdam. The train is a very good way of transportation to the major cities in the Netherlands. The big advantage is that you arrive in the center of a city, without worrying about finding a parking spot for the car and of course, no traffic jams!!! Do count on delays though, and over crowded trains during rush hour.
In my opinion the train is not very cheap here, but an easy way to travel to the center of a major city.
You can find all information about the trains on this website of the NS (dutch rail) :

    Getting TO/AROUND:
Every Dutch person at least ownes one bike. There are 16 million people in this country and over 30 million bikes. Especially in the big cities like Amsterdam this is a good way of transportation.

I used to have more than one bike as well when I lived in The Netherlands. One normal bike for touring around and one old bike to get to the pub and back again.

    Getting TO/AROUND:
The car is a very easy way to get from A to B. The roads are good, and there are plenty of them. But.... be aware of the traffic jams. The roads are full here, and during rushhour a lot of road have traffic jams. Another disadvantage is finding a parking spot for your car. And if you find one in or close to the center of a city, you have to pay for it. There are parking meters everywhere! In this picture you can see a parking meter. You can recognize them by a big P. So don't forget to always have enough change with you when you come here by car. Parking can be very expensive in the major cities, and Amsterdam is no exception to that. If you don't pay for your parking you run the risk of getting a huge fine, your car will be clamped and towed away as well.

And the last and not least way of transportation is by boat. It is great to see Amsterdam from the canals! There are several ways to enjoy this. You can go on a tourboat, but also consider doing the tour yourself. I loved renting a waterbike here, and bike through the canals. It is a lot of fun, hahaha, although it is very exhausting.

I am not sure if this would be a good way of transportation, hahaha, but I loved this wooden shoe boat. It is a typical Dutch shape, with typical Dutch decorations : tulips!
