Fruit stands

  • I know I am a bit of an exception, hahaha, but I really don't like shopping! I try to stay away from them as much as I can. So you won't find a lot of shopping tips on any of my pages. But there is one thing I did like a lot in Ontario and that is the fruitstands.

There is a lot of fruit and vegetables grown in the area, and there are fruitstands everywhere around. Of course there is the strawberry season, hahaha, which is my favorite time of the year :-)) But I also love it when there is fresh corn, and now in September lots and lots of apples.

I used to live in Stayner, and a bit to the west of that there are lots of apple orchards and as you can see, a lot of fresh apples to buy!

    Tomatoes :-)
  • Tip Rating:

  • Another picture of the same fruitstand. This fruitstand is located between Dunedin and Collingwood and is called 'Redpath's Fruit Market'. Mmmm, I love tomatoes, don't they look delicious! You can find similar fruitstands all over Ontario, just keep your eyes open and you'll be certain to spot some of them.

Eaton Centre in Toronto: Shop till you drop
  • Tip Rating:
  • Province of Ontario - Eaton Centre in Toronto

  • Name of Shop: Eaton Centre in Toronto

If you do love shopping, this is the place to be: The Eaton Centre in Toronto. This is a picture of the decorations at the Eaton Centre during christmas. There are christmas decorations everywhere you look, a real display!

Eaton Centre is the third largest mall in Canada and it is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Toronto. The Centre is bordered by Dundas Street (north), Yonge
Street (east), Queen Street (south) and Bay Street (west).

There are more than 285 shops, restaurants, and services! So there is plenty of shops for the shop-aholics. Hahaha, I would be happy enough with only one store, because I don't really like shopping. But I have to admit that even for a 'not-shopper' like me that it is fun to see the inside of Eaton Centre. The mall is huge, and the glass roof makes it look very special. At the entrance you can see the artist Michael Snow's sculpture of Canada geese entitled, Flight Stop. And maybe the most fun is to stand on the 4th floor and look down on the shoppers from above. Hahaha, they look so miniature from up there, it is like looking at a miniature world.

    Hours :
    Mon-Fri 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM
    Sat 9:30 AM - 7:00 PM
    Sun 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
The Eaton Centre is open 7 days a week, including most statutory holidays.

    Magazines

  • Province of Ontario - Magazines at Presse Internationale
  • Magazines at Presse Internationale

  • Sometimes it's hard to find the exact magazine your looking for but this is a great place to find it. It's Presse Internationale on College Street in Toronto. I am always looking for a British magazine that I love to read called 'Practical Photography'. It's hard to find, but I could find it here! For me this was the best shop as I couldn't find the magazine in the area where I lived.

The one I went to was on College street in Little Italy, but there are a few more of these magazine stores in Toronto. You can find them at : 537 Bloor Street West, 364 Danforth Ave., 2068 Queen Street East.

  • If you love antique shopping, Kensington Market in Toronto is the place to be. "Kensington Market" is a neighbourhood of Toronto with a lot of atmosphere and bohemian feel. The antique shops add to this feel and you can see quite a few of them around. Hahaha, in this picture you can see a store with stuff from the 70's, hahaha, so much fun to see :-)

    The Dutch Store
  • Tip Rating:

  • Of course this is my favourite store in Collingwood : The Dutch Store. Mmmmmm, they have all the Dutch goodies I "think" I can't live without, hahaha. Like "Oliebollen" for new years eve, and "chocolate letter" for Sinteklaas (The Dutch Santa), mmm and of course the distinct but oh so addictive taste of pepernoten! And all sort of other Dutch and actually European products. The store not only carries Dutch products, but you also see a lot of Italian, English, Scottish and German things.
