Djurgårdsbrunn Travel Guide: 15 reviews and 39 photos

Djurgårdsbrunn is the water between the island of Djurgården and the northern part of Stockholm, with Ladugårdsgärdet. The most famous attraction of this area is by far the Vasa Museum, but there are many other things to see and do here. The Open Air Museum Skansen for example is one of the many museums located in this area. But this is also a place get out of the city and take a nice and leisurely stroll along the waters of the Djurgårdsbrunnsviken.

Interesting tips! Do you know if they have now returned that totem pole to British Columbia? (Seven years have passed since you wrote that tip, so perhaps they have?)
I suppose the Vasa was a 17th century version of the Titanic.

      Hi Don,
Yes, it has now returned to British Columbia! The Haisla have carved a copy, which is now in the Etnografiska Museum, and the original returned home spring 2006. Here is a link with a timeline and some of the story.

Thanks for making me dive into that story, quite interesting to learn what happened to it! I almost visited the Etnografiska again last week, but ran out of time. But I guess one of these days I will drop by the museum again!

Superb photos of the Vasa. I especially enjoyed the close-ups on the carvings.

One of my fav places in the months after May. Taking the ferry from Slussen on a warm day and just wandering about or taking the bus from outside Áhleans to the last stop. I once made a huge party at Galarvarvet (Next to Vasa) in 1990. Tim

That is quite a collection of museums, with some very interesting looking exhibits! I had heard of the 'Vasa' before, but your up-close photos are amazing! Yes, the Skanzen would be excellent for a summer tour.
