All Swedish National Parks are different, and Djurö represents the “lake archipelago” of Sweden. It is located in Vänern, the largest lake in western Europe, and it has a “sea”-like character like a horizon of water. The park consist of 30 islands almost in the middle of lake Vänern. Once populated, mostly by fishermen (15th to 18th century), now just visited by summer tourists. The visitors to the island can enjoy the flourishing flora and fauna using the marked trails for nice walking.

I love the national Parks in Sweden and it is a dream of Åke and me to have visited all of them at some day. It won't be easy as not all of them are so easy to reach, but we want to give it a try anyway :-)
