With the steamboat Mariefred

Gripsholm Castle and Mariefred are 70 kilometres west of Stockholm. A fun way to get to the castle is by taking the coal-fired steamboat "SS Mariefred". The trip to get from Stockholm by steamboat to the castle takes 3.5 hours one way.

The S/S Mariefred is the last coal burning steamer in original condition. The steamboat sails every day (except Mondays) between Stockholm and Mariefred, but only during the summer month.
The departure time from Stockholm is 10.00, and it arrives at Mariefred 13.30. The steamship departs from Mariefred at 16.30 and arrives in Stockholm 20.00.

A return ticket costs 180 SEK (in 2003) and a one way: 120 SEK
