"Tyresta National Park" Tyresta by sim1
Tyresta Travel Guide: 30 reviews and 33 photos
Tyresta is one of Sweden's beautiful National Parks. And probably its location is what makes it unique. Amazing to have an untouched wild forest just 20 km south of Stockholm! So maybe this is a good tip for you as a days outing when you are staying in Stockholm.
The area has been protected since beginning of 20th century and made a National Park 1993. The park is used a lot by Stockholmers relaxing from the fast beat in the capital city.
In 1999 there was a large fire in the forest probably caused by clumsy group of barbequing people. 10% of the area was burned down. It does have its impact on the park, but it’s still a wonderful place to visit with more than 50 km of marked trail in the park and the bordering nature reservation.
Tyresta village, close to the park, also has the museum "Nationalparkernas hus" showing what all the national parks in Sweden have to offer.
On this page I'll give you my personal impression of the hike I made in September 2004 (the Fornborgsslingan). If you want more info about the park you can take a look at the parks website : Tyresta National Park
I love the National Parks in Sweden and it is a dream of Åke and me to have visited all of them at some day. It won't be easy as not all of them are so easy to reach, but we want to give it a try anyway :-)
Here is a list of all National Parks in Sweden. The links are clickable so you can surf to all my National Park pages.

Hiking and Walking

Those wooden planks bring back memories and I guess there must be some mushy wet hiking there on some days, but blueberries and lovely lakes so close to the city, Sweden looks easy to fall in love with.
Oh this walk is so exciting - all the tranquility there :-)) I love the lichens and mosses and how they design the nature - and oh, the "micado" picture is first class :-)))))
Thanks for guiding me through your hike = impressive page with wonderful nature = Hope your dream comes true & you visit all these lovely National Parks!
Strolling around in pure nature, that is what we need ! great pictures as always Sim
I enjoyed a lot this walk, the views, the lake, the delicous berries and the calme forest with the silence! Great page!
Rood met witte stippen! Your fly agaric picture drove me towards your Tyresta page, On your "must see", the pretty red Russula is not edible (very hot!). Forest fires are terrible but there is no life without death. Stones don't die but don't live!
Superior photos & great tips. I like this NP a lot.
Lovely photos Simone! This forest sounds like a lovely daytrip from Stockholm! I can only imagine how nice the view of the lake was from the various vantage points. No worries about the fire, nature has a way of healing itself that is incredible.
Wonderful place to enjoy pure nature!!! You photos are great as usually!!
I love the photo of the mushroom!! You're an excellent, artistic photographer. Comments are great too. Looking forward to visiting Sweden at some point. My last name is Olson, after all :-)
