On the same day I visited Pompeii, I also went to Ercolano. Ercolano (or also called Herculaneum) is quite similar to Pompeii, but not as well known. Herculaneum/Ercolano is located in the city of Napoli and can be reached by train very easily.

Recently visited Pompeii but not Herculaneum and from your photos I would say that Herculaneum does seem better to me. I would like to return to see Pompeii again then Herculaneum to compare in person!

I've seen Pompeii, but not Herculaneum. I imagine it would feel so strange wandering those empty streets.!! The frescoes were amazing...to think they still retained some of their original colors...
