<font face=verdana>Sri Lanka is a beautiful Island, in the Indian Ocean, south-east of India. There are little tropical islands who offer such a rich culture and a beautifull nature as Sri Lanka.
The island offers a huge variety of landscapes and places worth seeing.
There are beautiful beaches with cocospalms, extensive tea-, bananas-, cacao- and rubberplantations, rainforrest and mountains.
The population is a mix of Sinhalese, Tamils, Sri Lanka Moors, Veddah and European (mostly people from Portugal, Great Britain and The Netherlands). They are very friendly and hospitable.
The kingscities Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya and Kandy are a remembering of early kings. The temples, palais,monasteries, wallpaintings and moonstones are part of the culture. Than you also have Nuwara Eliya, which is the part of Sri Lanka where the Englisch people lived and that is something you can see very clearly (there is even a golfclub) and an other place with the infuence of an other culture is Gall, there you can find infuences of the Dutch people.
In other words (and a little bit shorter than the story above) Sri Lanka is a very fascinating country with a lot of faces.
I liked Sri Lanka very mutch, its really a very varied country. We visited a lot of places, but we spent a lot of nights with local people, so I dont have a lot of tip for good hotels, but I dont think its hard to find in Sri Lanka a place to stay.
