Nightlife Spot: The Old Sailor
This is my absolute favourite place to hang out, in Amsterdam. Don’t know anywhere or haven’t found anywhere like it, in all my travels. It’s not very big and gets very crowded and the music is loud but you are at the heart of the lively bit. The barmen are a great lot, especially Rene. He can be really entertaining. You really have to go here. An absolute must. And its a great place during the day also.

Nightlife Spot: Cafe Pleinzicht
Really lovely traditional 'Brown Cafe'. Wonderful ambience. Very popular with Dutch people, which is always a good recommendation. Very pleasant service. Not just a night spot, also great during the day.

Nightlife Spot: Front Page Cafe
I suppose it's a nightlife spot, but for me it's good any time, especially when you need a little relaxation during the day. This was the first Brown Cafe I visited in Amsterdam, many years ago. It has never lost it's appeal. Great Ambience.

Nightlife Spot: The Red Light District
The Red Light District is possibly the best known area in Amsterdam. Nealrly everyone who visits Amsterdam wants to see this area. I beleive Amsterdamer's sometimes are a little put out by this, as they consider there are many more interesting places to see. They're probably right. However it remains one of the most frequebnted areas in Amsterdam. Of course, not everybody who goes there indulges in the obvious commodity. Curiosity has a lot to do with it as well. I find the area interesting and full of life.
