The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are the UKs holiday playground and are popular for all ages. The islands of El Hierro, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, Lanzarote, La Palma and Tenerife, together with 6 smaller islands, or islets, make up this archipelago. The largest and most popular of these are Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fueteventura and Lanzarote.

The Canary Islands have a sub-tropical climate and all year round enjoy stable temperatures, reaching a maximum of around 30ºC in summer and a minimum of 17ºC in winter, with slight variations according to the area and the island in question.

They are only two hours from the Spanish mainland and four from the rest of Europe, making them a very popular holiday destination. The Canary Islands offer a combination of sun and sand with a rich culture, magnificent landscapes and a fascinating range of sports (golf, windsurfing, trekking, hang-gliding, etc).

 The Canary Islands are also a playground for Germans. So maybe we meet one day at one of the beaches there ;o) My favourite island is Lanzarote. Been there 6 times so far - and definitely will return again and again.		BerniShand Sat Sep 4, 2004 22:32 UTC

 Really well done page! Great photos and a lot of info; unfortunately you´re absolutly right with your local costum tip, one has to search for "spanish" lifestyle.
