Museo del Oro (Gold Museum)
A first-rate museum dedicated to the pre-Columbian natives use of gold in everyday and ceremonial life.
Excellent descriptive exhibits which introduce the various communities that existed before Europeans arrived: their culture, traditions, ceremonies, and beliefs.
Over 10,000 pieces of gold and some other precious metals are on exhibit, as well as many pieces of ceramic and other archaeological materials.
I highly recommend renting the audiotour:
Spanish - 1000 pesos (less than US$.50)
English or French - 5000 pesos (about US$2.30)
Plan at least 2 hours. There's a nice little museum shop, also across the street there's a market with many vendors that sell some comparable items for less.
This is a MUST SEE!
