Getting TO/AROUND: The best way to get around london is to buy an all day travel card for the London Underground otherwise known as The Tube. This entitles you to unlimited travel on the tube from either 8 or 9am until 12 midnight and some bus travel.

An off-peak Travelcard covering zones 1234 costs £4.70.

There are several stations near to the main shops and attractions and the trains run every few minutes.

Although the Tube can get very stuffy and overcrowded at times I love it and could ride on it all day. I`m not quite sure what it is but there is something magical about the London Underground.

Although a lot of the stations have been modernised I still prefer the good old days and would love to see them when they were first built.
I find it amazing how they were built with the limited machinery that they had in those days mainly just a pair of hands and a shovel.

Getting TO/AROUND: Fly into one of Londons airports :Heathrow, Gatwick, luton, Stanstead or London City .

Although Heathrow and Gatwick are the main two the other airports offer a sometimes cheaper alternative.

Getting TO/AROUND: The best way to see London is to go on one of the inexpensive open top tour buses with tour guides. Some of these you can book in advance and others you can get on and off as you please.

Look out for the specially marked bus stops.

Getting TO/AROUND: Take a taxi round London, the best and most well known are the Black Cabs. Their drivers ae licensed and must take a very tough test called The Knowledge before they can drive a Black Cab. To pass this test they must know every road and route around London.

There are other taxis or mini-cabs available but they are a lot harder to police and many of them are unlicensed and will rip you off or even worse.

I have only ever been in one Black Cab, it was an experience but nothing too special.

    Category: Train
Getting TO/AROUND: Paddington Station is one of the busiest in London and is one of the main gateways to the Midlands and South-West. There are 12 mainline platforms and also a main Underground Station serving the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Bakerloo lines.

The ticket office is located on the main concourse and is open at all times the station is operating. You can make advanced bookings and reservations here. Also located on the concourse is a booking office for the Heathrow Express and Thames Trains.

In a bid to stop ticketless travel a few of the platforms have automatic ticket barriers like on the Underground to stop people getting through without tickets.

There is a Left Luggage Office which is located on Platform 12 and is open Monday-Saturday 07:00-23:00 and Sunday 08:00-22:00
The Lost Property Office is also located on Platform 12 and is open Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00

Located on and around the concourse are several shops and places to get things to eat and drink these include two bars, 2 coffee shops, Yo Sushi, Sainsbury`s, WH Smiths, Thorntons, Ladbrokes, Sock Shop, Burger King, Victoria Wine, The Link and the Tie Rack.

Also located on the concourse is a statue of one of the most famous bears in the world, Paddington who was named after the station.

Getting TO/AROUND: Passengers will be without a direct Tube link to one of the terminals at the UK's biggest airport for 20 months, it was announced today (06-10-04)

From January 7 2005, London Underground Piccadilly line trains heading for Heathrow's Terminal 4 station will not go beyond Hatton Cross.

Passengers will have to take a shuttle bus from Hatton Cross to Terminal 4.

Piccadilly line services to the Heathrow Terminal 1, 2 and 3 station will not be affected, although there will be no direct service to this station on the weekend of January 8 and 9, 2005.

The long-term closure of Terminal 4 station is due to work on the Piccadilly line extension to the under-construction Heathrow Terminal 5.

London Underground said today (6-10-04) that during the 20-month period, the Terminal 4 journey should "only take about five minutes longer than now", while trips to Terminal 1, 2 and 3 will be slightly quicker.

I don't think the London Eye is in Bloomsbury. Bloomsbury is North central and the London Eye is on the South Bank
