| Los Angeles - Jan. 24, 2009 - Kzapanta |
Another VT Team Makes a MarkVT member kzapanta and his wife “representing” with VT colors competed in the High Trek Adventure Race this weekend in Los Angeles. This fun and whacky event is a one-day version of the Amazing Race in major metropolitan cities around the US. Ken and his wife took advantage of VirtualTourist’s Team Sponsorship offer to supply spirited, team garb for charitable, competitive and/or whacky team events and marched off with VT pride and perseverance, finishing in the upper percentile of competitors – and all done in the one weekend so far this year of California rain. When you see their VT uniforms, you’ll probably be asking yourself, “Why didn’t I participate in this memorable experience?” After all, blue wigs, VT visors, VT T-shirts, VT flags (disguised as capes), and VT stickers worn like a Miss World sash make every body type a beautiful site to behold. And as Ken said, “We clearly took top honors for the costume department”. And second Kudos go out to kzapanta’s support team, members VDV and islandgirlmt, who helped with the clue solving and who acted as their life line at the “VT Intelligence Headquarters”. We are proud of all four of you. Way to go!!! If you too are interested in the VT Team concept, we may be able to help you! Check out the VT Team's page for more info.

MEETINGS - Try them - you'll like them!! Don't be afraid of the meetings - they are the best!!!Our recently named 2008 Longest Reigning #1 Rookie, Kathrin_E, had her own preconceived, nervous moments before attending her first meeting, but then...: "Being a relative newbie to VT, I had no idea what to expect when I signed up for the Euromeet. I was quite nervous about it but I thought, well, it takes more or less place at your doorstep, travel costs are zero, let's have a look - if you don't like it you'll hop on the next tram and go home. In a crowd of more than 100 there will be SOME nice people to have a sensible talk and some fun with. I then found that EACH AND EVERYONE of these 100+ people was nice, open-minded, ready for both 'serious' talk and a lot of laughs. I've never met so many awesome people together in one single place. It was a wonderful experience!!!" Read another leery member's perspective:"Blimey, I'm so glad that I signed up for Ricky's Halifax meeting! I never expected to have enjoyed the VT meets so much - I'd enjoyed doing my tips and pics since 2004, and making 'virtual friends' but I was a bit skeptical as to how a VT meet would be - I thought that it would be very 'Clubby' everyone would know each other, and everyone would be doing the "WIWI"- (When I Was in.....) and trying to outdo each other with their travel tales. How wrong was I? I remember sitting on the coach from Halifax to our 'mystery trip', thinking -"I feel at home here"! and very happy and comfortable!" | | | Never Alone - Never Cold...When You're a VTer |

Did You See VT on the Today Show - Olympics? It was actually the VT Banner...and me. Look next to Al Roker's shoulder and you will see me (straw hat) taking a picture of the NBC TV Monitor of my Hunka Hunka holding up the banner. We sat in the rain to hear and see Michael Phelps interview, watch the US Gold Medal Girls Rowing team also being interviewed, but mainly to give VT this great exposure. And it worked because we heard from a lot of our members who spotted the banner. Great job Gerry!!! | | | Did You See VT on the Today Show - Olympics?* |

Member Meeting - Karlsruhe, Germany, June 08Member Meetings are a special treasure each VT member should give themselves. After writing tips, posting photos, corresponding virtually with your online friends, the day may come when you start thinking about attending a meeting. Should you venture out alone to meet up with people you've never seen in person? The answer is YES, YES, YES! You'll have the time of your life! Have you ever gone to a party and felt intimitated and shy...well, have no fear because that won't ever happen at a VT meeting. |
