The Columbia River flows into the Pacific Ocean at Astoria. The drive along the river can be very scenic with ships and barges using it for transportation. Washington State is just across the river. The town has several Victorian homes and bed and breakfasts but we didn't get the chance to stay there other than to visit the pier. |
| | The bridge to Washington State Pleasure boats docked on the river which empties into the ocean just beyond the bridge. The water contains salt and is inhabited by ocean fish and seals. |
| | Crowded Docks The seals can be found sunning themselves on the docks where they can find enough space. They seem to always be arguing over who belongs where when here. |

matcrazy1 Fri Mar 11, 2005 13:43 UTC Seals? Haha, must be pure water there, right? I see that even rivers are huge in the USA (well, oops... some people/locals as well, right? :-). | Pawtuxet Sat Aug 21, 2004 13:06 UTC I'm amazed at the seals on the docks...so close to humanity. |
