A Bullriding Cowboy
Where is my cowboy hat so I can be in style? Don't miss my TRAVELOGUE!
I think most go to Las Vegas to gamble and eat but this trip we went to see the World Professional Bull Riding Championships at the Thomas and Mack Stadium. The event lasted four nights and was one of the most exciting sports I've ever seen. The audience screams like at a rock concert in the fun of the competition between man and the bull. The bulls always throw more than man is able to stay on his back for 8 seconds. The bulls receive the best treatment and are worth several hundred thousands of dollars. The owners also receive money for the healthiest of their breed. Winnings can total a million dollars for the riders championship.

We did take time during the day and visit the casinos. To go to Vegas and not go to at least one of them is a wasted trip. The Strip Casinos have some of the best entertainment in the world. Because our time was taken by the bull riding events we were not able to see the shows but we did manage to visit the other entertainment aspects each casino has to offer.

The picture shows myself and Chris Shivers, one of the top bull riders. He is a young "real cowboy" at a picture and autograph session at Cesars Palace. Chris just won the Championship for 2003.

The Sphinx

The Luxor Casino is one of the most artistic architectural buildings with the shape of a pyramid.

The Dancers

Most of the shows include the girls, dancing through at least most or part of the programs. These girls were at the Rio but can be found in most casinos.

The Grand Canyon trip looks incredible! Am returning to LV in October with my 21-year-old son (he went at age 14), and am perusing LV pages -- yours is great. (only $10 lost to gambling!)
