"A friendly, welcoming place" Bangladesh by Maline

Land on the plains.
Beautiful landscape.
Crowded and colorful.
Bangladesh is of the most crowded countries in the world and in many areas foreigners are quite rare.
Me and some friends spent ten days here in April 01. We were in Dhaka, the Sundarbans and then travelled north and crossed the border into India at the Chilahatti checkpoint.
In Bangladesh we met some fantastically warm and nice people. Although we were always noticed, if not the centre of attention, we never felt harassed and were never physically bothered. And we were of course also interested in the people we met.
I especially remember the little girls in Dhaka who came to sit with us when we were resting under a tree in a small park. There were three of them, and they were around ten years old. Although we couldn't speak each others language, we all did our best and managed to communicate through gestures.

The fumes were all because of cars, buses and trucks with bad exhausts -- most of these were pulled after 2004~5. It is back to the Bangkok level of pollution now ;-)
Hi! This is Afsar from Bnagladesh.. It feels really nice to see that people from other countries make good comments about my own country. I hope you will enjoy more if you visit now. Because things have changed a lot in last few years
Fascinating page - some place I hope to visit one day.
What a cool page! Dave was here.
Excellent information of your time spent here. Wonderful page Malin, very interesting read & lovely photos, well done ! (~_~)
One place ill probebly never get to...thanks again!
Great page of the country, I still like to visit. Because of delay of my flight for more than one day, I missed my one-night-stay in Dhaka.
Very interesting page! Bangladesh has been on my agenda for a couple of years now, but i haven't made it yet. It seems to be quite a friendly country.
I think I have to reconsider my next travel destination when I see your Bangladesh page.
Wow! you really are adventurous, aren't you! I think you have seen more of Bangladesh than I have and my parents are from there! My mum's always told me to check out the Sundarbans
