Land on the plains. Beautiful landscape. Crowded and colorful.
Bangladesh is of the most crowded countries in the world and in many areas foreigners are quite rare.
Me and some friends spent ten days here in April 01. We were in Dhaka, the Sundarbans and then travelled north and crossed the border into India at the Chilahatti checkpoint.
In Bangladesh we met some fantastically warm and nice people. Although we were always noticed, if not the centre of attention, we never felt harassed and were never physically bothered. And we were of course also interested in the people we met.
I especially remember the little girls in Dhaka who came to sit with us when we were resting under a tree in a small park. There were three of them, and they were around ten years old. Although we couldn't speak each others language, we all did our best and managed to communicate through gestures.

manbil7 Sat Sep 1, 2007 23:07 UTC The fumes were all because of cars, buses and trucks with bad exhausts -- most of these were pulled after 2004~5. It is back to the Bangkok level of pollution now ;-) | afsarbaf Fri Oct 28, 2005 07:37 UTC Hi! This is Afsar from Bnagladesh.. It feels really nice to see that people from other countries make good comments about my own country. I hope you will enjoy more if you visit now. Because things have changed a lot in last few years | wcph Mon Sep 12, 2005 05:08 UTC Fascinating page - some place I hope to visit one day. | dlandt Wed Aug 10, 2005 17:13 UTC What a cool page!
