Hiking in the open views. - Jämtlands Län

Jämtland is the name of a county in north-west Sweden around the city of Östersund. It is quite big, as counties in Sweden go.

It is a county of mountains and forests. In summer you come here to hike, ride horses, go fishing and more, and in winter you mostly come here to go skiing or perhaps ice-climbing...!

As you may see, it is mostly to experience the outdoors you come here. The biggest city in the county is Östersund, and it has all the basic stuff, but no extravagant shopping possibilities or outstanding nightlife, as far as I have experienced.

The city in itself has its charming parts, but in my view, it is nothing spectacular.

Ice-climbing...

"Hang in there!"

Those who know their stuff claim that ice is really cool (!) to climb because it is organic. You have to wear special shoes, that "axe" their way into the ice, to get you a safe grip. And in your hands you have small ice-axes for the same purpose.
The ice makes sounds all the time.
As for me, I stayed on the ground, I was contnet just capturing the whole event on film...

Pros and Cons

Pros:Open, clean, amazing scenery, wildlife, solitude, a real get-away from city life
Cons:it is a bit off, especially if you center your trip around Stockholm.
In a nutshell:If you want an out-door holiday, this is an option

Dress warm Warnings Or Dangers (1)

In winter, dress warm. Man this walk was cold, it took forever and I nearly froze my limbs off. Everyone else was well... more travel advice

Mysiga bilder, Malin! Jag är praktiskt taget uppväxt i Jämtland, har till och från bott hos mormor i Bräcke. Här i Göteborg får man ju inga "riktiga" vintrar, jag längtar efter det när jag ser dina kort...
