Europe, a continent in the world The Netherlands, a small country in Europe Drenthe, a small province in the north of the Netherlands Assen, a big city in Drenthe
That's where I live!
Assen has almost 60.000 residents and is the provincial capital. In the neighbourhoud of Assen you will find a lot of woods where you can take a walk or take a ride on the bike.
In the center of Assen you can do some shopping if you want and there are also some restaurants and bars.
Assen is famous because of the Dutch TT. Once a year people from abroad come to Assen to join the race and especially the night before the race. The TT takes place every last Saturday of June.
Also well known, but I think it's only in the Netherlands, is the Drentse four days bicycle-tour. Assen is one of the places where people can start with this tour.
During the summer on Wednesday there are a lot of activities in the center of Assen. Every Wednesday has a different theme then. For example there is a special theme for children or books and records are a theme. It's always nice to visit the center of Assen then. |
