I've been in Nepal in January and May 2000.

When I was here in January it was after a visit to the north of India and then you see the contrast between these two countries. The people are very friendly and not obtrusive at all (of course in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara are merchants who want to sell things but on a friendly way).

The scenery is very interesting. In the north the Himalaya with its fabulous peeks, in the south the Terai with its forest and around Kathmandu the valley.

Well known places I visited are Royal Chitwan National Park, Pokhara, Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. Touristic but, nevertheless, places you have to see.

In May Nepal was already a little familiar to me so I wasn't surprised that much anymore but of course it was fascinating too.

Pros:Relaxing, friendly people, the scenery

Entering Nepal for the third time in one... Tourist Traps (1)

It can be a problem to enter Nepal for the third time in one year. It's not that you can't enter the country anymore but... more travel advice

Kathmandu & surrounding area is fine, but a visit to Pokhara a MUST ;-)))
