A Good Chance

It was a good chance for me to visit Jordan on my way to Iraq in 1982.
Owing to the war in Iraq the planes from Moscow did not fly to Baghdad. They all flew to Amman instead.

A Short Stay

Jordan to be discovered yet!

So we landed at the International Airport in Amman and were taken to a hotel located somewhere uptown. I am sorry I forgot its name for I was too tired of all the new impressions.
We stayed overnight there and even went for a walk in the evening city.

Busy Atmosphere

Symbols of Jordan

I could feel the busy atmosphere of the capital surrounded by hills and palm trees.
On the next day we left for Baghdad across the Syrian Desert (920 km/572 miles).
I could see the landscape of the endless desert.
We crossed the border and had a control only in Ruthba, the first Iraqi town after the border.

Yes, come! Jerusalem is full of Russians! You will feel right at home with the signs, books, menus & subtitles in Russian.

Lucky you were to come to Jordan on your way to Iraq! I visited the Southern part of Jordan last year when having a trip to Israel. I'll tell about it on VT later.
