The entrance to "Chelsea" cafe bar in Luhansk
This restaurant is located right in the very center, next to the central entrance to the market in Sovietskaya Street.
It has three halls: the first one as you enter is for smokers and the next two are for non-smokers. There is also a terrace where you can sit in warm weather. The hall with open air seats on the terrace has gladd windows, a huge TV with the flag of Chelsea FC and the enormous Union Jack on the ceiling.
You can find a wide variety of dishes here or just have a cup of tea or coffee after shopping at the central market. My English friend Michael, a regular customer of this place, and I used to order the only meal that we thought was delicious - French fries.
This is a very good place with its air-conditioning to relax after a walk downtown.
Favorite Dish: They have a good English menu.
I liked their company salads.

The cafe windows
This cafe is located in Antiq Gallery in Brest Fortress Heroes Block, opposite Dimitrov Block, one bus stop away from the circus.
The cafe's name would sound as "tiptop" or "in tiptopshape" in English. So your unsuspecting friend, who knows nothing about this cafe, calling you when you are there will hear, "We're in tiptopshape". He/she will surely repeat the question without knowing you are clearly pointing out your place of stay.
The offers you dishes from the local cuisine. They also offer aromatic tea with muffins and biscuits.
It was funny to see Russian and English paper letters hanging from the ceiling. It must have been a party there and they decided to leave the creative decor.
We, my colleagues and I, had farewell lunch at this cafe when our professional development course was over.
The cafe manager was kind enough to offer us a tour of the neighboring picture gallery where we saw lots of canvases and pieces of unique furniture on sale.

Inside Nevsky Restaurant, Old Town, Luhansk
I thought it was rather original and interesting to have a graduation party at this Old Town restaurant.
We celebrated the graduation of our students along with their parents here.
This restaurant is located in what was named St.Petersburg Street before 1921.
Now it is Lenin Street.
You will recognize it by wrought iron entrance..
This is a typical local people's restaurant. It occupies a former apartment and is very cozy and nice, makes you feel at home.
The DJ was great, too.
Favorite Dish: You can have full menu here: various meat and fish dishes and cakes.
You feel like you are at a home party at one of your friends'.

A street vendor, Oboronnaya Street, Luhansk
This is not a restaurant, of course, just a snack that you can have during your long walk about the city.
You can see such vendors near the city markets and inside them, too.
During your shopping you can have a bite at Inn cafe at the central market.
There are three such cafes on the territory of that market.
Favorite Dish: fried sausage, hotdogs, kebab with ketchup.

"Kalinka" cafe, East End of Luhansk
This cafe is one of the three cafes and snack bar at the Eastern market of Luhansk.
There are a lot of tables and you can enjoy the lively relaxed atmosphere here.
In the evenings there is live music and entrance fee of 10 UAH.
There are also seven separate "cabins" - tables - where your minimal order should be 100 UAH for the table. And then you can truly enjoy the surrounding atmosphere.
They have no special "company dish", but you can order some famous dishes of the Ukrainian cuisine here.
As I have noticed, the majority of the customers only order drinks there...
The cafe is called after the famous Russian song Kalinka.
Favorite Dish: Ukrainian varenyky
This cafe is perhaps the only one where you will be served with the local beer: "Munich" beer from Luhansk brewery. It is bitter and darker than "Obolon" or "Sarmat".

"Pyramid" cafe, Luhansk, Ukraine
This relatively new Egyptian style restaurant in Kurchatov Street offers exotic tea along with “authentic Asian dishes”.
There are two halls: one for smokers and another, a smaller one, for non-smokers.
The smaller hall can seat twelve persons maximum.
The decor of both halls is great!
My Iraqi friends, the students of the local medical university, and I went to this restaurant one day and enjoy the water pipe and small snacks there. The smoke of the water pipe was strong (or I was not used to it!).

At the entrance to this restaurant
If you want to have lunch being somewhere downtown, you cab hardly find a better place.
You can eat just like locals here: the dishes that the local housewives cook for the entire family!
The majority of the dishes here belong to the Ukrainian and Russian cuisine.
My friend and I have often dropped in at this restaurant end enjoyed our lunch there.
This restaurant is a part of the All-Ukrainian network of restaurants with such a name. It's the 14th restaurant of the network.

"Grotto" for a company, Luhansk, Ukraine
This nice and cozy cafe is located just next to "Pernik" restaurant.
It has tables at the entrance and inside in its two halls, the first one with loud music, though...
On the picture you can see the last hall ( by order you enter) that I called "Grotto".
In fact, it is called At the Waterfall.
It's nice to feel quite different atmosphere from that of the downtown hustle and bustle here.
You can just sit and relax ordering whatever you wish.
People come here mainly for a drink.
In the evenings they charge $1 entrance fee.
