There are two old Orthodox churches and a women’s monastery in Starobilsk:

Holy Sorrow Women’s Monastery
revived in1993.
The full name of the monastery is
Russian Orthodox Church Monastery of Our Lady, The Joy of All Who Sorrow.

One of the city legends reads that all these churches and the monastery were connected by underground passages that used to be big enough to allow a rider and a cart pass.
