Staying Overnight

I had the pleasure of staying overnight at Uzhgorod hotel in 1996 when we, several engineers from a factory in Luhansk and me as an interpreter, were returning from our business trip to Germany by bus.
It was not easy to find the way to the hotel, so I had to speak "West-Ukrainian" to the passers-by to get there.
I somehow felt Russian was not very much desired there...
Thank God the rooms were all right. We set off to Luhansk the next morning...
I am sorry I did not even make any pictures of Uzhgorod.
Next time, then...
The picture shows us at 833-meters-high point at the pass in the Carpathians.

Mountain Road

We decided to take the mountain pass road after we left Uzhhorod for it was much safer than the big motorway.
We heard the buses coming from abroad were regularly stopped by the fellow country men who wanted them to "share" the "foreign tropheys"...
It was a great experience I must say!

We arrived to the hotel and went to bed for we were so tired after a long ride.

Nice to read about you adventure here at Uzhhorod --- and good you can speak West-Ukranian...I can't speak East, Wets nor even North Ukranian, hehehe...Norman :)

i love the mountainscene in the pic, i travelled several times through thoses passes on the way from uzhhorod to Lvi v, younger generation also speak English now adays:-) awesome area the Carpathian mountains

Nice intro photo! I was here 3 years ago but didn't manage to find any special sights. There are still lots of Hungarians up there. Am i right?
